Why SwimFASTER Swim Camp?
To put it simply, SwimFASTER Swim Camp is the best experience a swimmer can have at a swim camp. Coach Mel Nash has long been known as one of our Nation’s finest swim coaches and one of the top camp coaches anywhere. The opportunity for a young swimmer to spend a week or more with such an accomplished World Class Coach in a small group setting is unparalleled in the swim camp industry. His enthusiasm, positive coaching style and, especially, his technical expertise have changed literally thousands of swimmer’s performances.
Our camp is also a day longer than most traditional college swim camps so the swimmers can be sure to get all they can out of their learning experience.
While learning to SwimFASTER is the focus of our camp the hallmark of Mel and Carol's camps is FUN! Disney World, Universal Studios, Wet 'N Wild, Pirate Cove Golf, Arabian Knights Dinner Show are just a few of the activities on our schedule. Campers enjoy making new friends in this fun atmosphere!
After over 20 years in the swim camp business we truly believe we have designed the ultimate age group swimmer's experience - SwimFASTER Swim Camp!
What kind of camp is SwimFASTER Swim Camp?
We are a stroke technique swim camp for competitive swimmers. Our campers include beginners in the sport of swimming, swimmers who want to greatly improve their strokes, and elite athletes who need to fine tune their strokes and learn race strategies through expert coaching. Our sessions are tailored individually to the campers, giving one-on-one coaching attention to each participant. Each session is small - about 30 campers per week.
What kind of supervision do you have at camp?
Safety of the campers is our number one priority and we have 24-hour supervision. Director, Carol Nash, and other adult counselors live in the hotel with the campers and chaperone ALL activities.
What activities do you do?
We take advantage of our perfect location in Orlando! Each week we spend a day at either Disney World, Universal Studios or Sea World. Other activities include trips to places such as Disney Quest, Monster Mini-Golf, Wet' N Wild, and Arabian Knights Dinner Theatre.
Where do the campers eat?
We eat at excellent restaurants. Overnight campers start their day with a complete breakfast buffet at the Embassy Suites. Within walking distance of the pool and hotel we have The Olive Garden, Friendly's, Uno's Pizzeria and Friday's. We also have special Disney World Dinner Trips this summer to some of the wonderful restaurants within the resort like the Rainforest Café, or O'Hana's at the Polynesian Resort. On our day at Disney we will eat at one of the fun restaurants in the park.
What kind of swimming will my child do each day?:
At SwimFASTER Swim Camp we base everything on individual attention and one-on-one stroke analysis. There are 3 water workouts per day — a morning conditioning training session, a stroke drill and technique workout, and a filming and “starts and turns” workout. Each day Coach Nash will concentrate on one of the 4 competitive strokes. Mel does the stroke lectures, which, surprisingly to many first-time campers, end up being a highlight of the week due to his entertaining presentation! Each camper watches his or her DVD and has it analyzed — this DVD with voice-over analysis will go home with the camper.
